It all started just over a year ago when I changed job and joined the pre-opening team of a new hotel, well, in fact I was the first one to come on board and the only one for that matter (the one-man, or more correctly the one-woman team!) for a rather long period of time as the renovation works dragged on for longer than expected and the hotel as a result, failed to open on the targeted date. I ended up having a lot more free time on my hand than I was accustomed to. I started to think of ways to keep myself occupied during my free time. I eventually decided on the “upcycling, recycling, repurposing, restyling and creating projects” which I had a lot of fun doing, and I posted pictures of my humble works on Facebook. Unexpectedly and delightfully, I received a lot of “likes” for my posts and a tremendous amount of encouragements from my friends which made me realise that at long last, I am doing something right and something worth doing – to create awareness and for educational purposes using my creativity!
I began crafting during my school days starting with the wonderful cross-stitch and in later years while I was at college, I picked up jewellery-making but was never involved in upcycling and repurposing until in recent years.
I had been very happy just posting my little projects on Facebook all this while until the incessant encouragement from a few good friends. They thought I should share some of my upcycling projects online to reach to a wider audience with the hope to encourage them to upcycle and repurpose things that are otherwise to be thrown away into something useful or beautiful, and to do our little bit to make this planet a greener place.
I’m not a trained crafter nor I a qualified designer but I get so much joy, though the process can be stressful at time to come up with new ideas and create them which I guess is part and puzzle of it, I hope you will enjoy and appreciate some of the things I have created/am going to create.
Come along and enjoy the journey with me.
