The challenge of living in a condo is that you lack space when it comes to gardening or outdoor room and therefore, I had to make do with my little balcony cum utility area.
Although it is covered and in fact, a bit confined, I knew this little balcony of mine which is very breezy most of the time had potential and could be beautified and turned into a nice relaxing area for a bit of al-fresco dining or a reading corner.
I sat on the project for a long time and eventually got it done last week. No major works were involved and it was nothing glamorous but a very simple makeover to create extra living space with a bit of organising.
I still keep the cabinet that provides extra worktop space as my kitchen is small and storage for laundry and cleaning agents, and of course the washing machine remains where it is. I was glad to have the help of my dad who is more skillful with the cement drills and we put up some shelves for my knick-knacks and an upcycled trellis from my little nephew’s cot which he has long outgrown for a few potted plants. When it was all done with the shelves filled, a few more potted plants put in and the fairy lights on, I was pretty pleased with the end result.
It is a work-in-progress and I look forward to making this newfound nook of mine more attractive then it is now, for a start I think a few more potted plants would be nice. But as for now, I will just sit back and relax, and enjoy the fresh air……
