Clerodendrum thomsoniae
Common names: bleeding heart vine, glory bower
I first came across the Chinese common name of these flowers in my primary school science text book and due to it’s uniqueness, the name had made a deep impression on me. My close encounter with these flowers named “dragon spitting ball” (龙吐珠) came only very recently.
Look at the red bud appearing from the calyces it is easy to see why they are named “dragon spitting ball”.
Even when the flowers are gone the calyces are just as attractive!
very beautiful flowers
