When it happened 13 years ago, many people were surprised, jaws dropped in fact when they heard that I had accepted Christ and became a born again Christian. A friend even said, “I never would have thought… being a Christian was the last thing I would see you as!”
I guess it was rather hard for them to associate this appeared to be very ambitious, over-confident, head-strong, aggressive and hedonistic career woman with anything remotely related to the word “faith”. And a faith for the unseen God? Probably not in a million years!
Well, God has His timing, plans and own brand of humour!
Sometimes when I think about my own journey and look back at the years, even I find myself amazed at how far I have come, how much my life has been transformed and enriched, and how different and fulfilled it is now as compared to the days before I fell in love with Jesus.
This morning as I reflected, I pondered upon the word “faith”…
Faith, as defined by Oxford dictionary:
Complete trust or confidence in someone or something; strong belief in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof.
Faith, as stated in the Bible:
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
2 Corinthians 5:7
For we live by faith, not by sight.
But above all…
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
