We mourn…
We mourn for those who have lost their lives far too soon, most of them far too young, so unexpectedly and so tragically. To the families who have lost their loved ones, we are with you.
We salute…
We salute the mountain guides for their selfless act of bravery, courage and commitment to bring the stranded and injured climbers to safety at the base of the mountain. To these unsung heroes, your humanity has truly touched us.
We weep…
We weep for the damaged iconic “Donkey’s Ears” on Mt. Kinabalu, a landscape forever changed. To the familiar sight of the majestic mountain from a distance, we will never view you the same way ever again.
We trust…
We trust God that although the earth moved and we were shaken, He is the unchanging and unwavering loving God from yesterday, today and for the days to come. He is still the one we hung on to for comfort, refuge and peace. To our heart that is unsettled and sorrowful, may we find rest in the Lord, may our faith be strengthened and let us not falter.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
