To stay at home for one whole month and practise social distancing is something unfamiliar and absolutely unprecedented for almost all of us. The Movement Control Order in our country was enforced from 18 March 2020 and has since been extended from two weeks to one month until 14 April 2020.
Today is the 19th day. Most have been counting the days with many managed to adapt when the outside world seems to have come to a standstill, simply because there is no alternative but to play the part by staying at home in order to curb the spread of the virus while others simply find it unbearable being cooped up all day at home, and cannot wait for it to all end and for life to go back to normal.
Here is a look at our life in lockdown…

For the first time ever, we truly understand what it feels like to be “caged”… reflection from then a carefree look at a silver arawana in an aquarium

A risk of feeling gloomy when we feel that we have lost our freedom, one that we have taken for granted for to be out and about

When we make the necessary trips and venture out to buy food, we encounter roadblocks

To keep ourselves free from boredom and not to feel confined by looking at the same four walls, we move about in the house for a change of scenery… one view during the day…

a very different view at night!

Since there is no longer an option to eat out, many have become better and creative cooks and some have bravely explored new cooking skills or tried out new recipes. The social media has been inundated with postings of food, the glorious food! We just need to mind that waistline!

Most might never have spent so much time with their respective family members before so it is necessary to keep cool, and try not to get on each other’s nerves to avoid the unnecessary confrontation.

It is almost non-negotiable to try and do the things we like to keep ourselves occupied. Some engross themselves in reading…

others like something artsy…

or just sweat it out, frustration and all!

Don’t forget to keep socialising and cheering each other on, even if it is done virtually.

We know it will be some time before we can bury our feet in the sand…

go for a swim in the open sea…

explore the great outdoor…

or even fly or cross borders…

But we are hopeful that in time, it will all blow over and the whole world will recover albeit slowly. In due time, all will heal and we will once again, get to go outside freely to bask in the sun and breath in the sweeter fresh air…

and to welcome the glorious sunrise/sunset.

As for now, we can only look up and trust. Do not lose faith!
